I was interviewed by Koti ja Keittiö magazine about my style and favorite things

Every time when I know I have interview coming I feel a bit anguished. Don’t get me wrong I am super happy that someone wants to write about my art and me but it is a very vulnerable situation to talk about oneself. Not the easiest task in this world. But it is much easier if the journalist and photographer are easily approachable. I am a photographer so for me being in a photo is not a hard task. Or it is a bit but I want to make the situation very easy for my colleaque photographer. These photos took Martti Järvi. I asked if it is possible to get one of my cats to photo because - honestly - they are super important to me. So there she is - Tove. I know that animals aren’t easy to photograph :0 so thank you Martti! Thank you Tea Honkasalo and Koti ja Keittiö magazine.

Koti ja Keittiö haastattelu Kreetta Järvenpää

I was interviewed by Tea Honkasalo. It was lovely moment of chatting about so many things. It was hard to stay in this story but we made it :0

Because not all can read Finnish, I will make a small summary in English.

Few facts about me

My favorite place: workspace, of course there are several but must choose one.

I could not live without: music, Ane Brun is my music heroine

I relax: watching movies and series, in love with Babylon Berlin, waiting season 4

My style: eclectic, I love to combine different styles and colors. I like to think that home is full of layers. Things that mean something, things that you think are beautiful, things that reminds about lived life, gifts and things you can’t throw away, haha.

One of my precious things: brooch bought form Paris 2010. A trip we made all together. My mom and my sisters with their families. It reminds me of that. Happy journey and first and last trip we ever made together. The whole day in Louvre with my mom. She passed away 2016.

My bad habit: collect old vintage items, sometimes they end up piles, haha. I love their beautiful appearance. They are usually very well made and materials are fab. They have their story and you can become a part of the story or vice versa.

My mindscape: beautiful grey winter day and snow all around. Thin greyish clouds in the sky, maybe a little bit blue with snow silencing the world. Love the light, it is soft. I also feel very calm and I can totally concentrate to my work and not feeling guilty about not going out because sun is shining! (sounds familiar?)

Design: I have designed 2 wallpapers for K-Rauta 2020 and 2 postal stamps for Posti.

Upcoming exhibition: Flora Favola, Poikilo museum, Kouvola 21.9.2023–7.1.2024

More: I’m also talking about the idea that working with flowers can heal. Flowers get your focus for the moment and you can forget the world and its challenges around you. In the story there are photos from my workspace and I love a little bit strange fairytale-like atmosphere. Reality is everywhere so I don’t need that in my creative space. We all have to get a chance to dream and make some of our dreams come true. The workspace like this has been my dreem since 2003. My husband was very happy when I began my freelancer career 2014. I took things from home to my workspace, those I had collected since 2003.
